Journalist Alasdair Gold has recently been talking about Zeki Celik and Tottenham’s links with a move to sign the Lille right-back.

Gold recently spoke about many issues surrounding Tottenham in the latest video on his YouTube channel. He provided some insight into multiple Spurs transfer targets and one thing that he focused on was the club’s chase of the defender and whether the north London club want to sign him or not.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Celik was recently linked with a move to Spurs. It was reported that Jose Mourinho’s men are looking to raise funds by offloading players and with the help of that, they can sign the Turkish full-back.

When talking about Celik, Gold revealed that while the 23-year-old is on Spurs’ shortlist, he isn’t a priority right now.

The journalist said: “I saw some reports saying [that] he is Spurs’ priority at right-back. He is not. People have told me he is on their list of right-backs they’re looking at.

Would you like Celik as an Aurier replacement?

I'd love that

I'd love that

That will be a bad move

“He is not their top priority on the list, but if other ones don’t pan out, then he is a potential [signing]. They have looked at Max Aarons all season, Timothy Castagne – [the] Atalanta guy who can play left-back or right-back, and has actually made quite a big deal in the press a little while back about how if Spurs were coming in for him, that he would love to go.”

TIF Thoughts…

Celik was a regular in the right-back position for Lille in the 2019/20 season. He made 23 appearances in Ligue 1 under Christophe Galtier and racked up three assists. He also played six games in the UEFA Champions League (as per Transfermarkt).

The Turkish international is still only 23 and offers the experience of playing in European competition. Serge Aurier is being linked with a move to Milan and was a regular in the 2019/20 season for Spurs. Therefore, if Celik comes in as a replacement, he could get regular first-team football and that will help in his development as a footballer – so a move for the 23-year-old may make sense for Spurs.
