Steve Wraith has been discussing the possible hope for the Saudi Arabian-backed takeover of Newcastle United to be resurrected.

During the failed Saudi-backed takeover bid to purchase the Toon, a stumbling block was a report from the World Trade Organisation which found that the Saudi state had facilitated the breach of international piracy laws (via BBC).

This was in relation to a television network named BeoutQ which had been accused of illegally broadcasting a range of professional sports which included the Premier League.

However, a recent report from Chronicle Live has explained how Saudi Arabia has announced further anti-piracy measures following the takeover saga.

So, in a recent episode of NUFC Matters on YouTube which aired on Tuesday, Wraith quoted the article from Chronicle Live and aired that it provides hope for the failed takeover bid.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

He said: “This is the talks, I suppose, that are going on in the background and this is why there’s silence.

“‘The Saudi Arabia Authority for Intellectual Property have signed a joint-work program with the General Commission for Audiovisual Media as the Kingdom attempts to tackle piracy.’

“So, again, another move by the Saudis to clamp down on the piracy issue. So, that’s in the Chronicle only a couple of hours ago.

“So, essentially, it’s another move. It’s another positive, we believe, and that’s why we feel maybe there’s still a chance really with PIF.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Wraith had to say, he clearly believes that there is still a chance of the Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle happening.

Do you think that the report on piracy gives fresh hope to the failed Saudi-backed takeover bid?

No, we need to let go

No, we need to let go

Yes, there's a chance

Yes, there's a chance

Regardless of if it has a positive impact on their failed bid to buy the Toon, Saudi Arabia further clamping down on piracy can, seemingly, only be a good thing.
