To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

One of the topics that came up during his discussion of Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover was Mike Ashley and the fact that he is now willing to sell the club.

Speaking prior to news of another bid involving ex-Toon striker Michael Chopra emerging, Wraith seems to believe that while the Saudi-led bid has failed, Newcastle fans can take comfort from the fact that Ashley does indeed want to sell the club, following the negotiations with Staveley’s group.

He said: “I think the one thing that we’ve got out of this whole process, if we don’t get anything else, is that although a lot of us genuinely didn’t believe Mike Ashley ever wanted to sell the club, we all know now, especially with the process coming to a halt, that he does want to sell the club.

“At the moment, because it’s the only deal in town, he does want to sell to the Saudis.”

Do you think Ashley will sell the club soon?

TIF Thoughts…

It is very clear that Ashley now wants to sell Newcastle, and even after Staveley’s group withdrew its offer, he confirmed via Lee Charnley that he was 100% committed to the deal.

This was then followed up by claims that he was personally trying to resolve the situation and potentially preparing legal action.

After the Premier League issued its response and stated what happened with the proposed takeover, Ashley’s sources questioned whether submitting the required information would lead to a decision on the Saudi-backed bid.

So, he seems determined to sell to Staveley’s group and believes that they are the only genuine bidders for the club, despite talk of Henry Mauriss waiting in the wings.

Therefore, Wraith could be right to argue that even if this takeover goes no further, the fans at least know that they now have a willing seller in Ashley.
