Liam Kennedy appeared on a recent episode of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith, and he discussed all things relating to Newcastle United, including transfers.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

One player that came up in discussion was Dimitrios Giannoulis.

This was before reports emerged claiming that the Toon have made a bid for the Greek international, but Kennedy provided his view on the reported transfer target.

It seems as if Giannoulis has impressed in recent months and has drawn interest, and the Shields Gazette reporter thinks he could be a good signing for the Toon.

He said: “He’s a player who has caught quite a bit of interest over the last year to 18 months with his performances, particularly in the Champions League he’s had a couple of performances and in the Greek division.

“I think he could be a reasonably shrewd addition for the price.”

Do you think Giannoulis would be a good addition?

TIF Thoughts…

Miles Starforth reported on Wednesday, after this episode of #NUFC Matters, that the Toon have made a bid of £4m for the 24-year-old.

Then it was also reported on Wednesday that Giannoulis is ‘extremely likely’ to end up in the Premier League. (Sportime via The Chronicle 19:28)

So, judging by that and the fact that reports are claiming that the Toon have made a bid for him, you could argue that the signs are looking good for Newcastle to buy Giannoulis from PAOK.

Certainly, Kennedy thinks that he could be a decent addition and considering the Toon only have one natural left-back in Matt Ritchie with a few others capable of playing there, then we agree that this could be a good signing for Newcastle.
