A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a post from Martyn Ziegler that includes a link to an article from The Times.
In the article, there is an interview with Amanda Staveley after her consortium withdrew its bid to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley, where Staveley blames rival clubs and the Premier League for the collapse of the deal.
As per Ziegler’s tweet, the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur had opposed the takeover.
This has annoyed these Newcastle fans, who have expressed their opinions on this strongly.
Do you blame the Premier League and its clubs for this?
Yes, they didn't want Newcastle to become powerful
No, the problem was piracy
Full public enquiry is needed, it’s so corrupt.
How can other clubs influence this because they don’t want competition?
Shame on the @premierleague.
Shame on Richard Masters.
They’ve destroyed our clubs future and prevented thousands of new jobs in our City and NE region.— ?? King of Northumbria ?? (@Sandancer1977) July 30, 2020
I have no words for this. How can you go through the legal expense of putting a bid together when a cartel of clubs can just prevent it going ahead at the end!

There’s a surprise top 6 clubs know the potential of the club

The deal for Staveley’s consortium to buy the Toon had been with the Premier League since April, but on July 30th, the consortium withdrew its offer and blamed the amount of time taken for the decision.
Staveley then followed this up by speaking to the media, and it is clear who she thinks is to blame for this failure.
This post continued to draw the attention of these Toon fans, who are furious.
If true about Liverpool and Spurs, it’s an absolute disgrace, particularly Liverpool. So you can’t buy us but you can’t buy anyone else either. @premierleague are an utter disgrace

I bet if it was them it would have sailed through. We wait until next time this happens undoubtedly and it’s a success. Complete joke

The question for Newcastle fans is, what happens now?
They are devastated, and though Ashley has stated he is 100% committed to the deal with Staveley’s group, it remains to be seen what happens there.
There is another bidder in Henry Mauriss, who now believes to be in pole position to buy Newcastle (as per The Telegraph) after he made a bid for the club in June, so it is now up to him to prove that he is serious and buy the club.
The only good thing is that Ashley, via Lee Charnley, said that the club would now back Steve Bruce in the transfer market, so we will have to see what the future holds as the dust settles on this situation.
