A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Mark Douglas that has called out the Premier League on their refusal to comment on the collapse of the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The Chronicle reporter calls the PL’s decision to offer no comment as ‘utterly contemptible’ and that their ‘continuing silence is not an option.’
This drew a response from these Toon fans who agree with Douglas and want to see the Premier League say something.
Do you think the Premier League will provide an answer?
No, they will hope it goes away
Yes, the pressure will force them to
If the consortium’s claims of ” we won’t pass it and we won’t reject it” are true then I can see a rather large law suit on the horizon. If they have that on record.

Keep on at them Mark, it’s reprehensible how they are behaving without any explanation to supporters, I think it’s become very apparent how much distain the @premierleague have for it’s supporters!

Liability @MsiDouglas, and PL knows it.
This will not play out well for PL.
Mike won’t take this lightly.
The PIF awaits.— Daniel Simons (@Daniel_Simons) August 1, 2020
Absolute disgrace! Investment not just in the team and academy but also in the city. And @premierleague have no comment all the way lost a lot of credibility through the process!

On the 30th of July, Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium announced that they had withdrawn their offer to buy Newcastle.
Staveley then revealed in an interview with The Athletic that the PL could not find a reason to fail the takeover, but they wouldn’t pass it either.
She also claimed that the Premier League wanted the country of Saudi Arabia to be put down as a director of the club, which she claims is ‘ridiculous.’
These are pretty strong accusations, yet apart from a slight view on their prospective from Matt Slater, the Premier League have said nothing.
This post from Douglas continued to attract Newcastle fans.
The longer the silence continues, the more the accusations gain weight. It really is in their best interest to reply-the fact they can’t simply state that PIF walked away mid O&D tests and thus they won’t be commenting any further just makes it even stranger they haven’t.

The longer they keep quiet, the worse it looks for them.
Sadly, their response to NUST’s letter shows how much respect they have for the fanbase. Will be surprised if we hear from them.

Agree, we dont need full details, but they need to share their side of the story.
If they don’t and they are just waiting for it to blow over, it makes it seem like they have something to hide.It also feeds in to creating more (false) hope that it will ne resurected eventually

Since the deal collapsed, Newcastle fans have launched a petition to have an independent investigation into why the takeover collapsed.
Miles Starforth also asked for comment from the Premier League on Monday, and they did not answer, while one Toon fan took it upon himself to visit the Premier League’s headquarters.
The pressure is building on the league, and the IFO has also recommended to the PL that they explain what happened.
The longer they leave it, the more angry Toon fans will become, as can be seen from these replies.
