A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Luke Edwards after he quote-tweeted a post from Mark Douglas about the Reuben brothers.
The tweet from Douglas relays news from a statement made by the Reuben brothers via Martin Cruddace, the CEO of Arena Racing Company, which is owned by the Reubens.
They confirmed that they were still committed to the takeover despite the consortium they were part of withdrawing its bid to buy the Toon last week.
This led to Edwards saying that the Reuben brothers could buy Newcastle themselves if they wanted to, rather than wait for the Saudis.
This drew the attention of these Toon fans, who were not happy with Edwards’ take.
Do you agree with Edwards?
No, it is up to them what they do with their money
Yes, they should just buy us
Not like you to put a negative spin on something

Back to a running commentary again then? Happy to hammer bids by PCP and the RB’s but Henry Mauriss is a god send

You get worse and worse as a human being everyday Luke. Must be hard to actually be like that.

The Reuben brothers are worth around £18bn but have given indications that they do not want to buy Newcastle outright but are happy to be part of Amanda Staveley’s consortium if they try and purchase the club again.
So, they may have the money, but they might not want to be the sole owners of Newcastle, and that is fair enough.
However, these Newcastle supporters agree with Edwards and want to know why the Reuben brothers are not simply buying Newcastle themselves.
Have to agree with you. Not sure how useful all this talk is. When ultimately it’s not their decision.

Agreed Luke why don’t they just do that

Staveley’s consortium withdrew its offer to buy Newcastle on 30th July, with Staveley blaming the Premier League for the deal’s collapse.
Since then, it has emerged that PIF, Staveley, and the Reuben brothers are still interested in doing a deal, so whether it can be revived remains to be seen.
For now, attention is on Henry Mauriss, who has reportedly been given until 14th August to strike a deal with Ashley and prove he has the funds to launch his own bid, so it will be interesting to see what happens with the latest in this takeover saga.
