Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to some recent comments from the club’s latest incoming signing, Jeff Hendrick.
This comes after Newcastle news Twitter account @NUFC360 shared a post on their page relaying comments made by Hendrick during his first press conference as a Toon player.
With regards to the Tyneside club, Hendrick praised the size of Newcastle United as a football club and talked about the “demand from the fans” that exists at the North-East outfit.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their reactions to the midfielder’s comments.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:
Jeff Hendrick: "In terms of a club, I think there is a bit more of a demand from the fans than anywhere else. It is a massive club in Premier League history.” #nufc

I like him already he seems genuinely excited to be here, it’s not his fault who owns or coaches the team

History being the operative word ?. Think I feel worse this season than last. Apart from a couple of players we have zero quality and no sign of any on the horizon ??

Newcastle signed Hendrick on a free transfer after he had spent four years at Burnley in which he made a total of 139 appearances for the Lancashire club, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Unfortunately under this ownership 17th will always be the aim

Now that this Newcastle news Twitter account has relayed Hendrick’s comments on the club onto their page, this paved the way for lots of Toon fans to share their thoughts on what the Irishman had to say.
Our demands, such as they are, haven’t been listened to for years man. If they were he wouldn’t be here, simple as????

Do you think Newcastle aren't showing enough ambition as a club?
Yes
No
Was a massive club

While this is a nice sentiment from Hendrick to praise the fans of the club he has just signed for, it appears that this group of Newcastle fans don’t feel the same way about the size and ambitions of the club because of the current ownership at St. James’ Park.
