A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which contains quotes from Ciro Immobile on the proposed takeover of the Toon.
Immobile claimed (as per Corriere dello Sport via the Daily Mail) that the prospective new owners had been in contact with him and that they were looking to appoint an Italian as manager – either ex-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri or former Inter and Roma man Luciano Spalletti.
This has made a lot of Newcastle fans very sad at the suggestion of what they could have had.
Has this made you sad?
Yes, it shows the ambition that we could have had
No, there is no indication he would have joined
My heart can’t cope with this

And people wonder why we are upset. We could have had the top goal scorer in Italy and Allegri but now we get Hendrick and Bruce. I actually wonder if other fans realise what they are saying when they say we are overreacting ?

It will always be someone else. We can’t have anything nice. Club is cursed. #nufc https://t.co/Op1YAuW9CX

Look what we have been denied. Without an explanation, absolutely shocking! A massive chance to bring a spark back to the north east. A chance to dream again, all took away dur to the incompetence of the premier league. #NUFC #NUFCTakeover https://t.co/MsvkLKw5hY

It’s this here that makes me angry ! We could have been shopping for the limes if imobile but we’re looking for loan players ! And why ? Because the premier league is corrupt ! #PremierLeagueIsCorrupt #GeordiesDemandAnswers

Immobile was in sublime form for Lazio in the 2019/20 season as he scored 36 goals in 37 league games – enough to win the Serie A Golden Boot and the European Golden Shoe.
The Italian is 30 now, but his performances for Lazio demonstrate that he can still score goals on the biggest stage, and a move to Newcastle could have given the Toon a proven goalscorer.
However, the Toon’s proposed takeover has now ended after the group led by Amanda Staveley withdrew its offer to buy the club on 30th July with the Premier League failing to make a call on the bid.
This post from NUFC 360 continued to attract Newcastle fans, with one comparing what they could have had to Jeff Hendrick, who is set to join the club.
From Ciro Immobile to an Immobile club…

Immobile does not state if he was interested in the move, but it shows the ambition that the prospective new owners had in going for Serie A’s top goalscorer.
So, we understand why many Toon fans are gutted to hear these comments from the striker.
