A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund with quotes from the Head of Project Management in PIF’s Chief of Staff division, Yasser Aldawood, after the takeover that they were part of collapsed last week.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The deal led by Amanda Staveley and also consisting of the Reuben brothers was going to see PIF own 80% of Newcastle and would have made the Magpies the wealthiest club in the Premier League.

However, after agreeing a deal in April with Mike Ashley and not hearing an answer from the PL, the group withdrew their offer.

This post from PIF saw many Toon fans respond begging for them to come back.

Do you think PIF will come back?

Since the deal collapsed, Newcastle fans have launched a petition that now has over 85,000 signatures on it demanding an investigation into why the deal failed, and Staveley has criticised the PL for their handling of PIF.

She claimed that the Premier League made PIF feel unwanted with the way they went about things.

This post continued to draw the attention of Newcastle fans.

However, despite the group withdrawing their bid, it is claimed that PIF are still keen on buying Newcastle but that they would need some assurances from the Premier League that the deal would be passed if they were to come back.

In the meantime, Newcastle are also the subject of a takeover bid from Henry Mauriss, and he now has a clear run at buying the club.

However, he has been told by Ashley that he must come up with a deposit, or he won’t get the deal to the next stage, so it will be interesting to see what happens with that one.

For now, though, it is clear that these Toon fans want to see PIF return to buy their club.
