Andrew Musgrove has been speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast, and he has revealed his thoughts on what the Premier League might do after Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium withdrew their offer to buy the Toon.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

Ciaran Kelly joined Musgrove, and for most of the time, he left the talking to Kelly.

Still, he did reveal his thoughts on the Premier League possibly changing the owners’ and directors’ test after Amnesty International called for changes.

This is what he had to say on that:

“I think one thing that might come out of this in the long term is that owners’ and directors’ test will probably get switched and changed around, maybe reflect the statement from Amnesty [International] where the human rights issue is literally third or fourth down the list [in the PL’s criteria].

“Newcastle fans probably don’t want to hear that, but that is something that should maybe have been taken into consideration.”

Do you think the test will be changed?

TIF Thoughts…

When the deal for Staveley’s consortium to buy Newcastle emerged in April, Amnesty International made a plea to the PL to block this deal because of Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.

However, it became clear that the main issue was going to be piracy instead, and ultimately according to Matt Slater, that is why the PL could not pass the deal.

So, in the Premier League’s tests, it appears that piracy is more important than human rights, so could that be changed after Amnesty made a request?

This could make it hard for the consortium’s deal to be resurrected and brought back because of Saudi Arabia’s human rights record, so you can see why Toon fans wouldn’t be pleased, but you can also see why it should be an important part of the PL’s tests.
