On the subject of Wijnaldum and the possibility of him leaving the club this summer, Rabinowitz shared his thoughts on the matter.

He said: “I don’t want to lose him, put it that way. I think he’s such a difficult player to analyse because, in a sense, I would argue that he could almost start for any team in the world or rather, he wouldn’t necessarily oust some players – but if you dropped him into Bayern Munich or Barcelona, Real Madrid he wouldn’t look out of place.

“I’d like him to sign an extension and it would have to take quite a lot of money for me to want to sell him this summer.”

The 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £36 million, signed to Liverpool back in 2016 from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United for a fee of £24.75 million.

Since then, the Dutchman has gone on to make a total of 186 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, in which he has managed to score 19 goals and provide 16 assists along the way.

Wijnaldum’s current contract at Liverpool runs out at the end of June next year.

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Rabinowitz thinks Wijnaldum would be a good fit at clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid just shows how highly he rates the midfield man, while his current market value suggests it would take a substantial amount of money to take him away from Anfield.

It will be interesting to see if Wijnaldum extends his contract at Liverpool at any point between now and next summer or if another club tries to take him away from the Reds.
