2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

Clarke spent a little bit of time on Takumi Minamino during this discussion and seemed to think that the 25-year-old will have a big impact this season.

It seems as if Clarke can see Minamino having a strong season for the Reds and also thinks that Liverpool have got strength in depth in some areas of the pitch.

He said: “They’ve got people like Minamino who they signed in January, didn’t really get a game I think he’s going to be an exciting player for them this season and will be that cliched like a new signing.

“Rhian Brewster might also get a few games depending on whether [Jurgen] Klopp decides he’s ready for the first team.

“So, I think they’ve actually got a few bits of strength in depth in places.”

TIF Thoughts…

Minamino was signed from RB Salzburg for £7.65m in January, and he went on to make 14 appearances for the Reds in which he scored no goals and provided no assists.

His average rating in the league from his ten appearances was a pretty poor 6.18, though eight of these appearances were from the bench.

However, while the Japanese international was with Salzburg, he scored 64 goals and provided 44 assists, and last season in the UEFA Champions League he scored twice and provided three assists, so if he can find that form for Jurgen Klopp’s side, then Liverpool could have a talent on their hands.

It is clear that Clarke believes that Minamino could be a good player for the Reds in the 2020/21 season, so we will have to see if he can live up to Clarke’s expectations.
