Phil Egan from Off The Ball was recently a guest on the LFC Daytrippers Podcast and has been discussing who, in his opinion, Liverpool should target to provide cover for their front three.

He spent some time talking about Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, with it being reported last month that the Premier League champions were ‘monitoring’ his situation. The Senegalese winger had spells at FC Metz and Stade Rennais prior to his arrival in the English top-flight (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

During his time with the latter, he scored 18 goals and provided his teammates with 16 assists in 77 appearances for the club. His impressive displays in Ligue 1 earned him a move to Watford in a deal reportedly worth £27m. When discussing potential transfer targets, Egan spoke about the 22-year-old, here is what he had to say:

“Someone that’s been linked with them is Sarr. I think he wouldn’t be a bad player because we saw the potential, obviously, Liverpool fans know, on his day, how disruptive he can be. He can play in any of those positions across the front three, blistering pace, we didn’t see the best of him but he was playing for Watford. Imagine what he’d be like playing for Liverpool.”

TIF Thoughts…

Sarr has made 30 appearances for the Hornets to date, scoring six goals and contributing six assists (via Transfermarkt). According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the Premier League last season was 6.71/10, which, on the surface, doesn’t appear to be great. However, given his young age and the signs of promise that Egan believes he has shown – including his double against the Reds in March – it’s fair to assume there is still more to come from the winger.
