Liverpool journalist James Pearce has made a claim regarding Reds full-back Yasser Larouci and his future at the Merseyside club.
This comes after Pearce recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Red Agenda Podcast to talk about the latest goings-on at the club.
On the subject of which Liverpool players could be leaving the Merseyside club this summer, Pearce had this to say on the matter and on Larouci specifically.
He said: “It looks like he will go on the basis that he’s now in the last year of his contract and his agent has said he’s not prepared to sign an extension, which I’m surprised about – that baffles me a little bit, why the agent’s looking to move him on – but I don’t think Liverpool will keep him unless he does have a change of heart and sign an extension.”
The left-back, who is currently valued at £1.62 million according to Transfermarkt, has worked his way through the youth system at the Merseyside club since he arrived at Liverpool back in 2017 from France (per Transfermarkt). Since he arrived in England, the 19-year-old made 37 appearances for the Liverpool U18 squad before making 14 appearances for their U23 squad (per Transfermarkt).
This season saw the Frenchman make two appearances for the Reds’ first-team with both of them coming in the FA Cup back in January.

It’s a shame that Larouci could find himself leaving the Merseyside club this summer as he could potentially get some more playing time in Jurgen Klopp’s side next season as Andy Robertson is currently the only left-back they have in their squad at the moment, so Larouci could potentially be a useful back-up for Robertson going forward.
It will be interesting to see what Larouci decides to do this summer regarding his future at the club.
