2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the subject of some of the younger players Liverpool currently have in their squad at the moment, Pearce had this to say regarding Jones in particular.

He said: “Liverpool view [Jones] as almost the perfect replacement for Adam Lallana, who of course has moved on in a free transfer to Brighton.”

After playing his way through the youth system at the Merseyside club, Jones has made 13 appearances for Liverpool’s senior team in which he has managed to score three goals and provide one assist in those appearances (per Transfermarkt).

As Pearce mentioned in the podcast, Adam Lallana left Liverpool in recent weeks and joined fellow Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion after making a total of 178 appearances for the Reds.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s good to hear that Pearce believes Liverpool have the faith and belief in Jones that he can step into the senior squad next season and fill the hole left by Lallana’s departure.

It will be interesting to see how many appearances Jones will make for the Reds next season and how Klopp will utilise Jones in the team.

However, with Liverpool currently having Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Marko Grujic and Naby Keita in their squad that can play in the central-midfield role, Jones will have to fight for his place in the starting XI next year.
