German journalist Guido Schafer has been sharing his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp and his future in management.

This comes after Schafer, who was a teammate of Klopp’s during his playing days at FSV Mainz, featured on a special episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red podcast that focused on the connection between Liverpool and the Red Bull group.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the subject of Klopp’s potential next move when he leaves Liverpool, Schafer expressed his thoughts on the matter.

He said: “I don’t know what Jurgen is [planning]. He will stay in Liverpool [for] two or three years? I don’t know. There’s no challenge that’s bigger than Liverpool. Barcelona? No. Real Madrid? No. Perhaps in Germany, the national team? It’s no job for Jurgen. He needs contact with his players every day and therefore I don’t think that he will follow after Joachim Low. I think he should quit in a few years.”

Do you think Jurgen Klopp will stay at Liverpool beyond 2024?

After taking charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund earlier in his managerial career, Klopp became Liverpool boss back in October 2015 (per Transfermarkt).

Since then, Klopp has guided Liverpool to the 2019/20 Premier League title, the 2018/19 Champions League title and won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Klopp was also handed the World’s Best Club Coach award for the 2018/19 season.

During his time at Anfield, the 53-year-old has gone on to take charge of 263 games for Liverpool, resulting in a points-per-game average of 2.05.

TIF Thoughts…

With Klopp having signed a contract extension back in December that will keep him at the Merseyside club until 2024, the German still has a fair bit of time before he has to make a decision regarding his next career move.
