This comes after Hay recently hosted an episode of The Phil Hay Show where he chatted about a number of topics concerning the club.

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

After it was recently reported that Leeds would turn their attention to signing Koch if they fail to sign Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, Hay shared this update on the club’s interest in the German.

He said: “They’re very keen on Robin Koch over at Freiburg, who’s somebody that [Victor] Orta, in particular, has been scouting for a long time. He has a lot of similar attributes to Ben White, he’s a similar age category, he’d almost certainly cost less than the amount that Brighton would be looking for if they were backed into a corner.”

Koch signed to the German club back in 2017 in a deal worth a reported £3.6 million from FC Kaiserslautern. Since then, the defender, who is currently valued at £15.3 million, has made 87 appearances for Freiburg in which he’s scored five goals and provided two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

In the 2019/20 Bundesliga season, Koch made 32 league appearances for the club in which he was given a season rating of 6.73/10 for his performances in those appearances (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

With Leeds recently having a third bid of £25 million rejected by Brighton for White, this could now result in Leeds giving up their pursuit of the Englishman and they could then start to make a move for Koch, as has been previously reported.
