Many Leeds United supporters have flocked to Twitter in order to respond to a post from The Athletic’s Phil Hay in which he discusses the club’s interest in the Spanish striker Rodrigo.

Rodrigo, who currently plays his football for Valencia, joined the La Liga side back in 2015 from Benfica in a deal reportedly worth £27m (as per Transfermarkt). Last season, the forward made 27 appearances in the Spanish top flight, scoring four goals and providing his teammates with nine assists.

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

According to Hay, Los Murcelagos ‘intend to sell’ the player during this window and Leeds’ interest in his services ‘is clearly mounting’.

Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the post.

Which of these two strikers would you prefer to see the club sign?

Judging by the above responses it’s clear that many of these Leeds fans are excited by the fact they are being linked with somebody as high-profile as Rodrigo and that they are said to be going up against a club as big as Atletico Madrid in the bid for his signature. More supporters continued to make their feelings known in the replies.

It appears, however, that some supporters would prefer to see Marcelo Bielsa’s side move for Brentford’s Ollie Watkins. The 24-year-old scored an impressive 25 goals in 46 Championship appearances during the regular season for Thomas Frank’s side last term (as per Transfermarkt) and with Hay seemingly reaffirming that links between Leeds and the Bees striker are still alive, you can understand why these supporters are keen to see the former Exeter City forward move to Elland Road.
