In a Q&A session with Leeds United fans for Leeds Live, Beren Cross has provided an update on the Whites’ reported interest in Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were reported to be interested in the former Liverpool man earlier this month, and now the Leeds Live journalist has confirmed that the Championship winners have officially submitted a bid. He wrote in the Q&A session, saying:

“A bid went in for Kent at Rangers in the past few days and that’s been knocked back from what I understand.”

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

The Elland Road outfit are obviously keen to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, with the league set to kick-off on 12 September, and if a move for Kent proves successful, then he could be lining up against his old side on the opening day, with Bielsa’s side set to travel to Anfield for their first fixture back in the top flight (per BBC).

TIF Thoughts…

Last season in the Scottish Premiership, Kent enjoyed a fruitful campaign for Steven Gerrard’s side, contributing seven goals in 21 top-flight appearances (per Transfermarkt). The 23-year-old was also a big part of Rangers’ run in the Europa League, contributing one goal and one assist in eight appearances, earning a solid 6.75 rating (per Whoscored).

Should Leeds make another bid for Kent?

The winger has also been superb in the opening games in this year’s Scottish Premiership, having found the net on two occasions in just four games, which has seen him average an impressive 7.55 rating thus far (per Whoscored).

Therefore, although he is valued at just £3.15 million by Transfermarkt, his strong start to the season, coupled with the fact that Rangers bought him from Liverpool last September for £6.48 million, suggests that if Leeds want to secure his services for next season, they will need to come back with a more significant bid.
