Podcast pundit Andy Costigan has been discussing the future of Everton’s Brazilian forward Richarlison.

The 23-year-old attacker recently talked up rumours of him leaving the club in an interview with Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte (via Liverpool Echo).

Richarlison stated that he can “hold on for another season” with the Toffees but if another club made a transfer offer for him then he would “sit down and talk“.

So, in a recent episode of the Talking the Blues podcast, Costigan discussed the Brazilian’s future with the club and shared his thoughts on the player leaving Merseyside one day.

To kick-off this quiz on Carlo Ancelotti on the side of easy, which side was his first game on the touchline at Goodison Park against?

He said: “At the end of the day, if Richarlison stays with us for next season, for season 20/21, and then Real Madrid or Barca come knocking at the door and we could double the price that we paid for him – i.e. £100m for the £50m we laid out on him – then I don’t think anybody would stand in his way and we’d wish him all the best, and he’s not going to a competitor in this country and we’ve doubled our money, you know, ‘thanks for your service, we’ve loved having you, good luck with Barca or Real Madrid or wherever it is’.

“I think the problem, from a supporter’s point of view, would be if that big-money move [was] within the Premier League.

“That’s when fans would probably get the hump – that we’d let one of our best players go to a direct competitor.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, seemingly the pundit would not mind seeing Richarlison leave next summer if the club made a big profit on him and he did not sign for a Premier League rival.

Would you be okay with seeing Richarlison leave next summer if it was for a big profit and he went abroad?

No, I wouldn't be happy even with that

No, I wouldn't be happy even with that

Yes, I think that would be alright

Yes, I think that would be alright

According to Patrick Boyland and Greg O’Keeffe of The Athletic, there has been ‘interest’ in the player from Barcelona which has stopped ‘comfortably short of a direct approach’.

However, as the interest is supposedly there, then perhaps what Costigan suggests he would not mind happening next summer may not be all that unlikely.
