A report in Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has claimed that Everton lead the race to sign Allan from Napoli.

However, they have been joined by Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that the Toffees are back in talks for the Brazilian international, although, the price Napoli want could be a problem – with the Serie A side wanting €40m (£36.24m) for the 29-year-old, according to Corriere dello Sport.

This is a greater sum than his Transfermarkt value of £28.8m and is a lot more than the €20m (£18.12m) plus bonuses that Everton reportedly offered for Allan in January.

TIF Thoughts…

Allan only made 23 appearances in the league last season and only started twice following the restart as other options were preferred to him, though he was injured for three of those games.

His rating for his performances in the league was 6.66/10, which was good enough to put him in 15th place in Napoli’s squad (as per WhoScored).

This rating would be good enough to claim ninth place in the Toffees’ squad.

However, this has still not stopped the Serie A side demanding a minimum of €40m for the Brazil midfielder.

The report in Sport Witness suggests that his price could drop as the window goes on, and at the moment, it is just a case of Napoli trying to get as much as possible for the 29-year-old.

The Toffees could face some competition, but it seems that they are back in talks to sign the man who played 61 games under Carlo Ancelotti.

This could be a one to keep an eye on as the transfer window progresses.
