The Athletic’s Greg O’Keeffe has been discussing the recent transfer link which emerged between Everton and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

According to a recent report by the Mirror, the Toffees are set to reignite their interest in the Ivorian attacker after they saw two bids rejected for him last summer.

Supposedly, Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of the attacker, however, last summer the Eagles wanted a whopping £100m for the player and it is unclear how much that valuation has fallen by.

So, in the latest episode of the All Together Now Podcast, O’Keeffe discussed this supposed interest in Zaha and the likelihood of a move.

To kick-off this quiz on Carlo Ancelotti on the side of easy, which side was his first game on the touchline at Goodison Park against?

He said: “Possibly [Everton will go back in for Zaha], because they obviously really wanted him last summer, but the price would have to be right, and I just don’t think they’re in a position by any means [to sign him] – especially if they’re going to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille and then have to spend on a midfielder as well.

“I just don’t think they’re in a position whatsoever to go and spend £70m-plus on Wilfried Zaha. So, they have to rely on really bargaining Palace down and I just don’t see it.”

TIF Thoughts…

Seemingly, the journalist does not believe that the Toffees will be signing Zaha from Roy Hodgson’s outfit this summer although he does not categorically rule it out.

Would you want Everton to spend their whole summer transfer budget on signing Wilfried Zaha?

Yes, he's worth it

No, that would be stupid

No, that would be stupid

Due to the fact that the forward was Palace’s best-performing player in the Premier League during the 2019/20 season (per WhoScored), that would suggest that Everton would be on the receiving end of a quality player if they did sign Zaha.

However, as O’Keeffe suggests, any transfer would be dependant upon whether or not the Toffees can barter the Eagles down to a suitable price tag.
