The Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe has been discussing people’s concerns over what Everton will do in the summer transfer window.

Last summer, the Toffees plunged a whopping £107.91m into incoming transfers and sealed the arrival of seven players (per Transfermarkt).

However, supporters of the Merseyside club then saw the Toffees deliver their worst finishing position in the Premier League since the 2003/04 season (per Transfermarkt).

So, in the latest episode of the All Together Now podcast, O’Keeffe discussed supporters’ concerns over the club’s recruitment this summer.

To kick-off this quiz on Carlo Ancelotti on the side of easy, which side was his first game on the touchline at Goodison Park against?

He said: “I think concern [over transfers] is fair given the obvious gaps left in the squad and the fact that it’s always better to get your deals done early, isn’t it?

“To be overly critical and [to] genuinely start to worry, [it] is a little bit early, yeah. Don’t forget, the window’s open, for better or worse, until October.

“So, again, not that you want to be getting players in once the season’s started ideally, but we all know the circumstances surrounding this window where it’s going to be different and we’re starting to get a sense of Everton’s place in it and where they’re not going to be necessarily lashing huge sums around until they can move players on.

“So, we just have to be realistic and it would be nice if the deals that did arrive, from a business point of view and [from an] Evertonian point of view, it’d be nice if those deals just came out of the blue.

“No pun intended and all of a sudden, the business is done and those players can have a full pre-season under [Carlo] Ancelotti and they can crack on.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what O’Keeffe had to say, he clearly believes that Everton supporters should not be overly worried about what the Toffees are going to do in the transfer window this summer.

With the Premier League season set to get underway from 12th September (per Premier League), hopefully, the Merseyside club can get their summer business done well in advance of then.
