Crystal Palace are lining up Florinel Coman as a replacement for Wilfried Zaha this summer should the Ivorian leave the club, according to DIGI Sport.

The report claims that the Eagles would be willing to offer approximately €13.5m (£12.15m) to try and secure the Romanian’s services. A left-winger by trade, the 22-year-old currently plays his football for FCSB in the Romanian top-flight.

During the regular season, Coman scored 11 goals and provided nine assists in 23 league appearances. He also scored once in the Championship group (as per Transfermarkt).

FCSB signed the player from FC Viitorul in a deal reportedly worth £2.7m and so they would stand to make a substantial profit if Crystal Palace are to make their move for the Romania international.

TIF Thoughts…

It was confirmed by Roy Hodgson as recently as last month that Zaha wants to leave South London this summer (via the Independent) but it remains to be seen whether anybody will be willing to match the club’s valuation of the player.

Zaha has played 362 times for the Eagles, scoring 57 goals and providing his teammates with 70 assists (as per Transfermarkt) – highlighting his importance to the team in recent years. We believe Crystal Palace are right to be scouting for the player’s replacement and preparing for life after the Ivorian’s departure.

Coman represented Romania in last year’s UEFA Under 21 European championships and his performances in that competition earned him a rating of 6.69/10 according to WhoScored. He also managed to score two goals in just 169 minutes of football and therefore it could be argued that the winger showed signs of promise on the European stage as early as last year.
