According to recent reports, Crystal Palace have made an approach for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

The reports by French publication L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) state that Palace ‘have approached’ Watford for the 22-year-old Senegal international and while there is no fee mentioned in the reports regarding the Eagles’ approach, it has been previously stated that Watford have set an asking price of £40 million for the winger.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Sarr only joined the Hornets last summer, in what was a £27 million move from French side Stade Rennais, and went on to make 28 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring five goals and registering four assists and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.71 – ranking him as the club’s sixth-best performer in the league last season.

Sport Witness report that the club’s approach for Sarr could be to replace Wilfried Zaha after Roy Hodgson revealed that the 27-year-old is ‘so set on leaving’ the South London side over the transfer window.

With Watford suffering relegation to the Championship this season after finishing in 19th place in the Premier League last term, it is also stated that any potential deal for Sarr will be ‘easier for Palace to negotiate’ with the Hornets.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the fact that Sarr actually had a hand in more Premier League goals than Zaha last season, with the Eagles man scoring four goals and providing three assists for Palace. If Zaha does indeed move away from Selhurst Park this summer and Palace go on to land the £22.05 million-rated Sarr, it could be argued that the club are actually upgrading on Zaha.
