In recent comments given for an article on The Athletic, former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock raved about Palace midfielder James McArthur.

Since making his move to south London from Wigan in what was a £7.92 million deal back in 2014, McArthur has gone on to become a Crystal Palace stalwart, featuring 208 times for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 17 assists.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Last season, the midfielder missed just one Premier League game for the Eagles, registering three assists over the 37 appearances he did make in the league, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.81 – ranking him as the club’s joint-fourth-best performer, an impressive feat at the ripe old age of 32.

In the recent article for The Athletic regarding McArthur, Neil Warnock had nothing but good things to say about the midfielder whom he signed six years ago.

He said: “The club didn’t want me to sign him. I had to really push him, and he’s been the best player they’ve had for years.

“They were talking about how good the other one, [James] McCarthy, was, but I’ve always wanted this one. This lad was my ideal midfield player. I’d have him tomorrow.

“He did two men’s work. He covered everybody, if somebody made a mistake he’d get his mate out of the car. He was everywhere, in his own box then, the next minute, trying to score up the other end.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, it would certainly seem like Warnock is a fan of his former player, and, considering how many appearances the midfielder has made for Palace over his six years at the club, and how well he performed last season, it would seem likely that Palace fans are equally as fond of their midfielder too.
