Crystal Palace fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Palace 19/20 season quiz. We'll start off with an easy one... Which side did Palace face on the opening day of the 19/20 Premier League season?

The report states that the 32-year-old’s deal was due to expire in 2021, but the Eagles are prepared to offer an extra year for the former Wigan Athletic midfielder.

McArthur has been with Palace since he left the Latics in 2014 for a deal worth £7.92m and it looks as though he will be staying for a further 12 months.

TIF Thoughts…

The 32-cap Scottish international has made 208 appearances for Palace and has featured across the midfield for the Eagles, highlighting an impressive versatility.

As well as this, he has popped up with 19 goals and provided a further 17 assists for Roy Hodgson’s side, and he has become a firm favourite of Hodgson’s, having played in 109 of Hodgson’s 122 games for Palace.

Last season, McArthur earned an average rating of 6.81/10, which was good enough for a spot as Palace’s joint-fourth-best player in the squad.

He also played in 37 Premier League games, suggesting just how valued he is amongst the team, and the fact that he has played 280 games in the Premier League shows he has plenty of top-flight experience.

Now we will just have to see if this report proves correct, and the Scot does indeed sign a new contract.

However, considering how much he has played under Hodgson, it would perhaps be a surprise if he doesn’t sign this new reported deal.
