According to recent reports, Crystal Palace are interested in Norwich City left-back, Jamal Lewis, who was subject of a failed bid from Liverpool earlier this summer.

The reports by Football Insider claim that Palace, who reportedly made a move for the 22-year-old back in the January transfer window, are once again in for the player this summer.

Crystal Palace fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Palace 19/20 season quiz. We'll start off with an easy one... Which side did Palace face on the opening day of the 19/20 Premier League season?

Earlier in the transfer window, Liverpool had an £8 million bid, which was set to rise to £10 million with add-ons, rejected by Norwich, with the club said to be after a figure of around £20 million for the defender.

The Northern Ireland international made 28 appearances for Norwich in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.46 – ranking him as the side’s joint-15th best performer in the league.

However, despite the fact that Norwich finished bottom of the Premier League table, with Lewis being part of a defence that conceded a whopping 75 goals, it would appear that 22-year-old did enough to encourage Premier League clubs to take a look at him this summer, with Palace looking to do what Liverpool failed to do and prise the left-back away from Norfolk.

TIF Thoughts…

It would appear fairly apparent that Norwich will settle for nothing less than their £20 million valuation of Lewis, as the club were reported to have flat out rejected Liverpool’s offer of £8 million plus £2 million in add-ons as soon as it was received.

And, considering the number of goals the Norwich defence shipped last season, it could be argued that if £20 million really is the price Palace would have to pay for the £9.9 million-rated Lewis, their money could be better spent elsewhere.
