According to recent reports, Crystal Palace will listen to offers of around £7 million for centre-forward, Christian Benteke.

The reports by the Daily Mail claim that the Eagles are willing to offload Benteke this summer, however, the report also states that the player has already turned down one offer to move away from South London, with an unnamed club from the Middle-East reported to have made a move for the 29-year-old.

Crystal Palace fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Palace 19/20 season quiz. We'll start off with an easy one... Which side did Palace face on the opening day of the 19/20 Premier League season?

It is a fair assessment to make that Benteke has not exactly set the world alight at Palace. Since his £28.08 million move from Liverpool back in 2016, he has found the net just 23 times, as well as providing 10 assists, over his 115 appearances for the club.

Last season, the Belgian international featured 24 times in the Premier League, scoring just twice and providing one assist, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.81.

Palace scored just 31 goals in the league last season, with only Norwich City scoring fewer goals and it would appear that the Eagles are now at the end of their tether with the 29-year-old, with Roy Hodgson said to be looking at a number of fresh faces in the attack, such as Danny Welbeck, Ollie Watkins and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the fact that Palace are looking to lower the average age of their squad over the summer transfer window, shipping out the £9.45 million-rated 29-year-old Benteke and replacing him with a younger option would seem to make sense for Palace, especially considering the striker’s distinct lack of goals since joining the club back in 2016.
