According to recent reports, Crystal Palace – as well as Leeds United, Newcastle United and Southampton – are interested in a summer move for Liverpool winger, Harry Wilson.

The Mirror states that Liverpool have placed a £20 million price tag on the 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he scored seven goals over 31 league appearances and averaged a slightly disappointing WhoScored match rating of 6.52/10.

The report goes on to claim that Leeds are ‘leading the chase for Wilson’, however, that Palace are also a strong contender for the winger due to the fact they may need to find a replacement for their current star-man, Wilfried Zaha, who has once again been linked with a move away from the club.

Wilson has been at Liverpool since youth level, and although he has only played one competitive fixture for the club, he has enjoyed fine spells while away from Merseyside on loan, such as his spell at Derby County, where he scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 50 appearances, at Hull City, where he scored seven goals and provided four assists in 14 appearances, and at the aforementioned Bournemouth.

Now, though, The Mirror reports that the £15.75 million-rated Wilson is keen to play ‘regular top-flight football’ next season, with Jurgen Klopp being happy to let the player depart the club this summer.

TIF Thoughts…

A £20 million asking price feels slightly steep for a player who has enjoyed one rather mediocre season in the Premier League.

However, Bournemouth were struggling throughout this season, eventually suffering relegation to the Championship, so perhaps it was not the best environment for Wilson to flourish.

But, with as many as four Premier League clubs interested in the winger, his wish for regular top-flight football may well come true this summer, be that at Palace or elsewhere.
