According to recent reports, Crystal Palace are interested in a summer move for Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele, who has been labelled ‘the next Wilfried Zaha’.

The report by Football Insider claims that Palace have turned their attention to Dembele after having a £12 million bid rejected for Queens Park Rangers attacking midfielder, Eberechi Eze.

The report claims that the 23-year-old Dembele has similar attributes to Zaha, in that he has a ‘love of dribbling with the ball’, ‘running at defenders’ and has an ‘impressive turn of pace’.

The winger, who joined The Posh from Grimsby Town back in 2018, has so far made 77 appearances for his current club, scoring 13 goals and providing 16 assists.

Dembele highly impressed last term, scoring five goals and providing eight assists over his 25 appearances in League One, helping his side to reach the play-off semi-finals, where they eventually lost out to Oxford United on penalties.

However, it would now appear that, should a concrete bid appear from Palace, the 23-year-old could well be playing in a higher division next season regardless of the fact his side failed to secure promotion last season, with the South London club said to be looking to recruit younger talents over the summer window in a bid to freshen up and lower the average age of their squad.

TIF Thoughts…

In addition to the fact Palace want to bring in youth, with Zaha once again being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer, the club could well need a replacement for their star man for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

And, considering the fact Dembele has been dubbed as ‘the next Wilfried Zaha’, he could be just the man for the job.
