YouTuber and Aston Villa vlogger Max Stokes believes Manchester United defender and former Villa loanee Axel Tuanzebe is ‘still in love’ with the club – but doesn’t think Dean Smith should pursue a move for him this summer.

This comes after Stokes recently made a video for his Villa-themed YouTube channel Villa On Tour where he spoke about a range of potential incoming transfers the Villans could make this summer and sharing his opinion on them.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

On the topic of Tuanzebe, who has previously had loan spells at Villa Park in the past, Stokes shared his thoughts on a possible transfer move for him this summer, amid talk of a possible Old Trafford exit in recent weeks.

He said: “He’s still in love with the Villa. We still love him, but I just don’t think he’d be the right sort of person [to buy]. He’s very young, no Premier League experience. I just don’t think that’s the sort of player we need at the moment.”

The defender first signed to Villa on loan in the 2018 January transfer window where he saw out the 2017/18 season in a Villa shirt.

Tuanzebe then spent the entirety of the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa Park, in which he made a total of 30 appearances for Smith’s side across all competitions, eventually helping them to win promotion back to the Premier League.

Since arriving back at United at the start of the 2019/20 season, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £7.2 million, only made 10 appearances for the senior side across all competitions, with injuries disrupting his season back at Old Trafford.

TIF Thoughts…

Despite having past experience as a Villa player, these injury issues the Englishman has faced in the previous season could be a problem in regards to a possible loan or permanent move away from Old Trafford this summer.

It’s nice to hear that Stokes still has a lot of love for Tuanzebe as well as fond memories of his time as a Villa player, but it appears that he believes Villa should look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements this summer, which may be understandable given his record since the end of his Villa spell.
