Aston Villa podcaster Dan Wiseman has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Birmingham club signing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer.

This comes after Wiseman recently made an appearance on The Villa Filler Podcast from a Villa-themed YouTube channel called Heart of The Holte where he spoke about a range of transfer topics concerning Villa at this moment in time.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

On the topic of Edouard, who has been linked with a move to Villa this summer, Wiseman shared his thoughts on the striker and a potential move to Villa Park for him.

He said: “I think he would offer more in terms of the different things that we demand in a striker. Celtic want about £40 million apparently for Edouard which is a big fee. That in the SPL is like billionaire numbers. I don’t think we’ll see Edouard leave for £40 million.

“I think if you test their resolve with a £25/30 million bid. I think you’d probably see it get accepted because Celtic can go and get a great goal-getter to replace him, but he’s an absolute baller and yeah, he’s the striker that I want to see pulling on claret and blue next year.”

Celtic signed Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent basis back in the 2018 summer transfer window for a fee of £9.27 million after he spent the previous season on loan at the Scottish club.

Overall, the 22-year-old has made a total of 130 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side in which he has managed to score 64 goals and provide 32 assists along the way.

TIF Thoughts…

With Villa only managing to score 41 league goals throughout their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, adding someone like Edouard with his impressive goalscoring record for Celtic would presumably add an extra attacking threat to Villa’s front line.

With Edouard having already scored four goals in Celtic’s first four competitive games in the 2020/21 season, you would imagine that the Hoops would be reluctant to let the Frenchman leave in the coming weeks.
