Aston Villa journalist Neil Dunsworth has made a transfer claim on Hertha Berlin striker Krzysztof Piatek.

This comes after Dunsworth recently hosted an episode of Villa-themed podcast For The Love of Paul McGrath to go through a range of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

On the subject of some potential incoming transfers for the club this summer, Dunsworth shared his thoughts on a potential move for Piatek, who the club were linked with during the previous January transfer window before he made a move to Hertha Berlin.

He said: “I think he’s there for the taking. I think if you come in, you offer £8 million to £10 million more than they [Hertha Berlin] bought for him in January, then he’s yours – and he’s exactly the type of player I think would work well in a Dean Smith offence.”

Since Piatek made the move to Hertha from AC Milan in January for a fee of £21.6 million, the 25-year-old scored five goals in 16 appearances for the German club (per Transfermarkt).

Piatek’s performances in those appearances earned him a season rating of 6.58/10.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s interesting to hear how confident Dunsworth is that Villa could potentially make a deal to bring Piatek to Villa Park this summer.

Having been previously linked with a move for the Polish international, it’ll be intriguing to see if Villa reignite their interest in the striker this summer.

With Villa only managing to score 41 Premier League goals throughout the 2019/20 season, this may be an indication that they may be looking to bring in some reinforcements this summer to help improve their attacking line.
