Journalist and Aston Villa fan James Hendicott has made a transfer claim concerning AFC Bournemouth attacker Josh King.
This comes after Hendicott recently made a guest appearance on Villa-themed podcast For The Love of Paul McGrath to talk about a range of subjects surrounding the Birmingham club.
On the topic of which players he would like to see join Villa this summer, Hendicott chose King as one potential incoming transfer he would like the club to bring in during the current summer window.
He said: “I like [Josh] King because he reminds me a little bit of [Gabriel] Agbonlahor at his peak – he runs at people, he sneaks in and nudges goals in off crosses from three yards out and that’s the kind of player we need.”
King signed to Bournemouth back in 2015 on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers. Since then, the 28-year-old has gone on to make 170 appearances for the Cherries in which he has managed to score a total of 50 goals and provide 17 assists (per Transfermarkt).
In their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, King made 26 league appearances for Bournemouth, scoring six and assisting four times along the way. His performances in those appearances earned him a season rating of 6.76/10, making him Bournemouth’s third-highest rated player for the season (per WhoScored).

With Bournemouth already having sold Nathan Ake to Manchester City recently, they could well say goodbye to King too if Villa or any other club show enough interest in him so they can raise some extra funds for the club after they were relegated from the top-flight.
With King having played in a range of attacking positions for Bournemouth last season, this shows that he has the versatility that could make him a useful addition to Villa’s squad if they were to make the move for him this summer.
