Aston Villa journalist James Rushton has claimed that there would be ‘better opportunities’ available for Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica than a move to Villa Park this summer.

During a recent episode of the Birmingham Mail’s Claret & Blue Podcast, Rushton shared his thoughts on a possible move for Rashica in the current summer transfer window.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

He said: “They’d have to offer a hell of a lot to bring [Milot] Rashica in, they’d have to give him the starting role, which he will get.

“There are better opportunities on offer for him unfortunately, and that’s me speaking as a Villa fan. He would be a great signing.

“I feel like there’s a lot of options there, so it’s not just that Villa [are] shrinking those options, it’s just that there is a number of them as well that he’s got to pick, and I think there’s a few more that might just be a little more attractive to him.”

It was recently claimed in a Facebook post by journalist Arlind Sadiku that Rashica will leave Bremen this summer and that the German club have had offers for the winger from AS Monaco, Villa and Wolves. Sadiku then added that according to his sources, Villa’s offer is the ‘most important’ for Bremen and that it is ‘likely’ that Rashica will move to the Premier League next week.

The Kosovan, who is currently valued at £19.8 million (per Transfermarkt), signed to Bremen back in the 2018 January transfer window from Vitesse Arnhem for a fee of £6.3 million.

Since then, the 24-year-old has made 74 appearances for the Bundesliga club, in which he’s scored 24 goals and provided 14 assists for his teammates (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

Despite Rushton’s feelings that Villa wouldn’t be able to persuade Rashica to move to the club this summer, it appears that Dean Smith’s side have set their sights on bringing the winger to England this summer.

It will be interesting to see if Villa manage to strike a deal with Bremen in the coming weeks and bring Rashica to the Premier League for next season.
