Charles Watts, the Arsenal correspondent for Goal has been discussing the latest regarding their £50.4m-rated forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract situation during a recent video on his YouTube channel

As things stand, the Gabonese striker’s current Gunners contract is due to expire at the end of next season and there is yet to be an official announcement with regard to an extension being agreed.

This, we can assume, has left some Arsenal fans feeling understandably nervous about the future of their top Premier League goalscorer from the 2019/20 campaign.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

The North London club signed Aubameyang back in January 2018 in a deal reportedly worth £57.38m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). Since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, he has scored 70 goals and provided 15 assists in 109 appearances – highlighting his importance to the team.

Despite the fact we are yet to learn a contract extension has been signed, Watts appears pretty confident an announcement is imminent. Here is what he had to say:

“Everything we’re hearing suggests that [an] agreement has already been found, it’s just a case of crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s. Aubameyang will soon be confirmed as staying on for another three years at Arsenal in a deal that will take him up to around £250k per week, behind only Mesut Ozil in the pay scale.”

TIF Thoughts…

Aubameyang was key in Arsenal’s 14th FA Cup triumph, scoring a brace in both the semi-final versus Manchester City and the final versus Chelsea. Taking that and his impressive goal record into account, you can understand why, if the Gunners are able to tie the striker down, it could be argued it would be their most significant business this summer.
