Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

This was just one of a number of Leeds United-related topics discussed by Hay, and he spent a bit of time on where the club stand with Bielsa’s new deal.

This is what he said:

“I think in different circumstances, the club, by now, might actually have announced the fact that it was essentially agreed, that things were in place and it was pretty much good to go, barring a few formalities and a few legalities that need to be checked over.

“I don’t think you take the risk with somebody like [Bielsa] because you’re never 100% certain that something isn’t going to go wrong at the last minute.

“Nobody on either side expects it go wrong. Nobody has ever suggested that he was going to leave, he was going to go, that he was unhappy with anything significant.

“The contract does need [to be] signed, and it does need [to be] finalised, and I know the club were hopeful of getting it done before training resumed this week.”

So, it looks as if everyone on both sides are still confident that the Whites will secure Bielsa’s future, but as of yet, nothing has been said about that, and the wait goes on.

TIF Thoughts…

Leeds began contract talks with Bielsa in July, and we are now in the middle of August, and nothing has been said yet.

However, Hay seems confident that it will be all sorted, and Leeds fans might just have to remain patient for the announcement.

The Argentine took Leeds back up to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years, so it would be good if he could stay and have a crack at the top-flight.
