Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

The Athletic reporter talked about various topics all relating to Leeds, and one thing that he spent some time on was Leeds’ lack of transfer business so far.

The Whites have made quite a few signings of young players such as Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh.

Still, the only senior signings so far have been Jack Harrison on another loan, the permanent signing of Illan Meslier, and the permanent signing of Helder Costa.

This is what Hay had to say about what Leeds need and their transfer business:

“They need a centre-back to go with Liam Cooper; they need something else up front with [Patrick] Bamford.

“It’s not that they don’t have the spine or the core of a team because they definitely do, and it’s a team that has just been promoted, but they are short of time to get all this done before the games kick off.

“I think Leeds will definitely want to see progress in the next week or two weeks; they’ll want to see things getting over the line, now.”

So, it looks as if Hay thinks Leeds need to sign a striker and someone to partner Liam Cooper at the back and that they will need to start moving quickly.

TIF Thoughts…

Leeds have had two bids for Ben White rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion, and they are also interested in Juan Foyth and would be willing to pay £15m for him, so it is clear that the Whites are looking for another centre-back.

In terms of their search for a striker, Leeds currently have Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts, Gelhardt and the returning Jay-Roy Grot as options upfront.

Bamford has only ever scored one Premier League goal, while Roberts has never scored in the PL and, Gelhardt and Grot have never played in the PL.

To provide Bamford with more support the Whites have been linked with a move for Brentford’s prolific forward Ollie Watkins.

However, he has never played in the Premier League either but he did have a very strong 2019/20 season.

So, there are clearly deals that the Whites are working on, but as Hay suggested (20:33), it is now about getting those completed.
