Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show discussing Leeds United’s pursuit of Ben White.
The Athletic reporter discussed many issues relating to Leeds, and one of the things he talked about was White and the fact that he is a priority signing for the club this summer.
Here is what he had to say on the 22-year-old:
“The priority for them though, without a doubt, is Ben White at the back, and that is the really complex deal because as it stands, Brighton are digging their heels in, Brighton are insisting they don’t want to sell. He’s due to come back to training with them in the next week, which is when I think things will properly develop one way or the other.
“He’s going to be expensive, there’s no question about that – I just think Leeds have seen so much in him over the past 12 months and have seen so much progress and development in him under [Marcelo] Bielsa that they would happily pay a high price for him.”
So, it looks like Leeds want to bring White to Elland Road permanently and would be prepared to pay good money for the 22-year-old.

White started every single league game for Leeds in the 2019/20 campaign as they won the Championship and were promoted to the Premier League, ending a 16-year exile from the top flight, and it seems as if they would love to have White back permanently next season.
However, the Seagulls have apparently put a £35m price tag on his head, a move that would nearly double Leeds’ current record signing in Rio Ferdinand.
Despite this, though, the Whites sound determined to sign him and have made him a priority, so this is probably one to keep an eye on.
