Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

The former Jamaica international was described as a ‘cult hero’ during his time at Elland Road and he was the Whites’ top goalscorer in all competitions in the 2007/08 campaign, the 2008/09 campaign and the 2009/10 campaign, helping Leeds to earn promotion from League One to the Championship in that final season before he left the Whites to join Premier League Everton in the summer of 2010.

Now retired, Beckford spent some time talking about his plans for the future during his recent appearance on The Lockdown Tactics and he talked about becoming more involved with Leeds United in the future.

He said: “I’ve had a chat with a few of the guys behind the scenes about being a lot more hands-on, possibly in some sort of ambassadorial role, doing bits in the community with the kids and, obviously, as well, knowing what my goalscoring record [was] at Leeds, I’ve had a chat a number of times with Patrick Bamford, with Tyler Roberts, with a few of the guys that they’ve got in the ranks as well and just passing on my knowledge and experiences that I’ve had and picked up along the way to these guys to see if it can help and benefit them in any way.”

TIF Thoughts…

It may be fair to say that Beckford’s goalscoring record was impressive during his time at Leeds as a player and with that in mind, as well as the fact he was described as a ‘cult hero’ during his time at Leeds, the former striker’s claim that he has “had a chat with a few of the guys behind the scenes” at his former club with regard to becoming more involved with the Whites in the future may be well-received by Leeds fans.
