Leeds United fan and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has been sharing his thoughts regarding a potential transfer move from the Yorkshire club for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
This comes after McGilligan recently shared a video on his YouTube channel where he spoke about a number of transfer rumours surrounding Marcelo Bielsa’s side at the moment.
After it was recently reported that Leeds are interested in signing the Turkish shot-stopper this summer, McGilligan shared his thoughts on the potential deal.
He said: “Leeds have been interested in him. I’ve seen a lot of things about him over these past couple of weeks and I think Leeds have been interested in acquiring his services. Liverpool have touted him as one of the top, top ‘keepers in the world. A scout at Liverpool actually turned around and said he’s the best keeper he’s ever scouted, which is incredible praise, and as of even two months ago, Liverpool were looking into him but there have been rumours with Leeds looking into him.
“Leeds have apparently sent scouts over to Turkey to look at him and whether or not that’s going to happen, I do not know, but that’s something to keep your eyes on. Sheffield United have had a [€20 million] bid rejected for him – and that just shows the market that we’re working in. It is absolutely incredible.
“It is one of those things where Leeds have just got to keep pursuing, we’ve got to keep going for these deals with someone like Ugurcan, highly rated, seen as one of the top ‘keepers in Turkey, one of the top ‘keepers in Europe, it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.”
The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £14.4 million, made his senior debut for Trabzonspor back in 2015 in their Europa League against Rabotnicki Skopje. Since then, the goalkeeper has gone on to make a total of 77 appearances for the Turkish club in which he has conceded 99 goals and managed to keep 14 clean sheets (per Transfermarkt).
Cakir’s performances in the 33 Super Lig appearances he made for Trabzonspor last season earned him a season rating of 6.86/10 (per WhoScored).

With Leeds currently having three goalkeepers in their squad with Illan Meslier, Kiko Casilla and Elia Caprile, it’d be interesting to see if they would be willing to add Cakir into their squad or if one of their current goalkeepers were to make a move away from Elland Road this summer.
