Many Leeds United fans have been reacting to a recent Twitter post from The Athletic’s Phil Hay after he shared some footage originally posted by @martinstott of Marcelo Bielsa jumping out of his car to greet a disabled supporter outside of Pride Park.
Hay captioned his post with the following: ‘Been so good to see Bielsa feel it and live it over the last 72 hours. A real gem.’
Leeds will return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years next season and despite missing out via the play-offs last season, Bielsa has overseen his team go more than one better and achieve promotion as champions this time around. The Argentine coach has always been described as a humble man and this footage is further evidence of the strength of his bond with the club’s supporters.
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the post.
A really lovely man . A fantastic human being , I think all Leeds fans feel better people having experienced him.. viva Bielsa??

I don’t care how much the club has to pay him, he HAS to stay

It’s insane the impact he’s had on the club, fans and city in just two seasons.
I’m not old enough for the Revie era. I was a baby for Wilko.
O’Leary and Grayson were probably the two managers I remember who I hold in high regard.

I keep saying this but I’ll say it again…. “Just when you think Bielsa can’t be any nicer….”
He then keeps on giving to people

Would you class Marcelo Bielsa as one of Leeds United's all time greats?
Yes
No
It’s clear from these responses that Marcelo Bielsa is held in extremely high esteem by the supporters not just for delivering promotion for the Yorkshire-based giants but for the way he has connected with those who follow the club too. Fans continued to respond.

He’s an absolute legend. The media and FA and EFL really need to take note at what he does.

There’s not many people on this earth that wield this kind of influence. Not only has he changed the fortunes of #lufc he seems to have made changes to the societal order. Leeds and surrounding areas just seem to be feeding off his influence, everyone seems a little kinder.

The Whites will end what has no doubt been an extremely successful campaign at home to Charlton Athletic on Wednesday evening and then all attention can turn to preparation for a campaign in the top-flight.
