Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update linking them with a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Daniel Podence.
The Mirror recently reported that the Hoops have been looking at Podence and want to sign the former Olympiacos man on loan in the summer. They claim that Celtic head a list of clubs that would like to sign Podence on a temporary basis for the 2020/21 season.
This news update was relayed on Twitter by CelticBible recently. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they flocked to it. Many of them had a positive opinion about Podence.
He’s a cracking player from the 3 games I’ve seen him in, Gary Neville called it himself, He is a similar player to Eden Hazard (in terms of playstyle)

Do Celtic need to sign Podence?
Yes, we need him
No, we should avoid that move
i’d be happy bringing him in on loan, can play both wings n everyone thinks we’ve got too many wingers when in reality we still don’t have enough there’s only forrest on the right and mo on the left and mikey sometimes playing left wing

Podence arrived at Wolves from Olympiacos in January this year for a fee of £17.64 million. He has previously played for Sporting Lisbon as well (via Transfermarkt). The 24-year-old is currently valued at £10.8 million.
While the fans above were pleased with the news, some other Celtic fans believe that the Bhoys don’t need him at this point and they won’t sign the player this summer.
No thanks

While Podence has made just a single Premier League start for Wolves, he has played three games for them in the UEFA Europa League. Against Espanyol, he even got an assist on the night (via Transfermarkt).
For Olympiacos last season though, Podence had made 41 appearances in all competitions for the club. He had contributed to a total of 17 goals as well, with eight of them being goals and nine being assists (via Transfermarkt).
This shows that he can be a useful player on his day and while Celtic have already signed Mohamed Elyounoussi, Podence can add quality depth to the team. This will help them challenge on multiple fronts. The fact that he can play on the right or the left flank shows that can be a utility player as well. So it is understandable why Neil Lennon may want Podence at Parkhead at this point.
