On the latest episode of the Celtic Underground Podcast, host Harry Brady was joined by journalist Lawrence Donegan and Antony Murray to discuss the latest goings-on at the club, with a focus on some of the potential transfer business that could happen this summer.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode was Celtic striker Patryk Klimala. The Polish forward signed for the Bhoys in January from Jagiellonia Bialystok in a deal worth £3.6 million, but has made just four appearances for the senior side since then; with no goals to his name (per Transfermarkt).

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

However, it appears as if the 21-year-old has been putting in a lot of work during the enforced break from football, with Brady first suggesting that: (6:19)

“He’s put on 3.5 kilos of muscle”.

Donegan then adds his thoughts on the young striker, saying:

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw Klimala. There’s three minutes of Klimala [on YouTube], at practice, and he looked quite good. I was thinking I wonder what all these Polish mates think when they see these videos? Because they sent them over, he was a highly-rated prospect in January when we signed him, but he’s quite skinny and I wonder what his mates think of him now, I mean he looks enormous. Not that he’s tall, but he looks very, very strong.”

TIF Thoughts…

Klimala had found game time hard to come by for Celtic, although it seems as if he has worked hard during the lockdown and will no doubt be keen to impress Neil Lennon ahead of the new season. Perhaps if Odsonne Edouard does leave the club, with the French striker having been linked to a whole host of clubs in recent months, then Klimala could step up as his replacement next season.

Do you think Klimala can be a regular in the first-team next season?

It will be interesting to see how much of an impact the young Polish striker can have next season.
