Premiership giants Celtic have reportedly had a bid rejected for FC Twente youngster Lindon Selahi.
Albanian outlet Sport Ekspres recently reported this, saying that the Hoops’ bid for Selahi has been rejected by his club.
The report also says that while the offer from the Bhoys was rejected, Twente aren’t expected to let Selahi leave too easily. Only a ‘high offer’ could tempt the Dutch club into selling the Albanian youngster. The report doesn’t provide anymore detail about what the Celtic offer was and how much money they had offered.
Selahi is currently only 21 and is a central midfielder by trade. The 2019/20 campaign was his first one with the Twente senior side. He made 25 Eredivisie appearances, scoring twice and picking up one assist as well (via Transfermarkt).
Do you believe this news about Selahi?
Yes, I think we've made an offer
No, that is fake news
TIF Thoughts…
It is interesting to note that Selahi is being managed by SEG– the same agency that manages Celtic star Kristoffer Ajer. So that link-up could prove crucial in Celtic’s chase for the 21-year-old.
Olivier Ntcham has been linked with a move to Southampton in recent weeks and if he does leave, Celtic may need a central midfielder to replace him. Selahi’s current deal at Twente runs out in the summer of 2021, so he could be available for a cheap price at this point.
He is only 21 and offers some potential to improve as a footballer in the future. His links with Ajer’s agent could potentially help Celtic in making this deal happen too. So signing Selahi, who is valued at £653k, could be a good move for the Hoops and he also offers some re-sale value because of his age.
