Celtic pundit Paul Carlin has recently been talking about Craig Gordon and has expressed his annoyance with the former Hoops goalkeeper.

Carlin was recently a guest on the latest episode of the Cynic podcast and the panel was discussing the club’s plans for the summer transfer window. Amidst all of this, the issue surrounding Gordon came up and Carlin talked about the new Hearts signing.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Gordon had recently confirmed that he was leaving Celtic, but the Scotsman has now joined Hearts. In a recent interview though, Gordon revealed that he would find it ‘great’ to face the Hoops in the Scottish Cup final and would want to beat them as well.

While talking about Gordon though, Carlin had some praise for him. But he went onto talk about the comments he made about facing the Hoops in the Scottish Cup final.

Carlin said: “He’s in the top three goalies that we’ve had in the past 20 years or whatever and I think he was a good fit for us at the time, it worked out for him. It was a good business arrangement for both parties. He had some great games.”

Are you angry at what Gordon said about playing against Celtic?

Yes, he shouldn't have said that

Yes, he shouldn't have said that

No, he was right to say it

No, he was right to say it

Carlin then went onto talk about the other side of the situation. He said: “His abilities [have] fallen off a cliff and I was actually quite prepared to just be like – brilliant, thanks for your service. You’ll be remembered as one of the better goalies we’ve ever had

“Then I’m reading this thing in the Daily Record today about him saying that he wants to do all he can to help Hearts beat Celtic and all that sort of stuff and I’m like – see you after mate, away you go.”

Clearly, Carlin is annoyed about what Gordon said about the Cup final and those comments seem to have left the pundit unhappy. The Scottish Cup of the 2019/20 season hasn’t been suspended yet and both Hearts and Celtic are still in the competition, which had reached the semi-final stage (Scotland Tonight via the Scotsman).

TIF Thoughts…

Gordon is now a Hearts player and he now has to do everything to help that club win matches. He was at Parkhead for six years but it is important to know that he came through the ranks at Hearts. So, he would have a special connection to that club as well.

At the same time, though, Gordon had also thanked Celtic for trusting him when he had taken a break from the game for a while. He was full of gratitude for his time at Parkhead as well.

So, clearly Gordon has respect for both the clubs and perhaps Celtic fans should wish him well for his stint at Hearts.
