Former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has been discussing the possibility of returning to the club as a coach or a manager. Larsson joined Kris Boyd and Robert Snodgrass on a recent edition of The Lockdown Tactics podcast.

The 48-year-old spent seven seasons at Parkhead as a player, scoring a total of 242 goals in 315 games for the club. During his time at Celtic, he helped the club to secure four Scottish league titles, narrowly missing out on European success having scored twice in the club’s 2003 UEFA Cup final defeat at the hands of Porto.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

When asked if he had considered returning to Glasgow in any capacity, Larsson said:

I don’t really think about it, to be honest with you. If it will happen, it will happen. If they want me, they have to come and ask me, simple as that.

“I don’t know if I will ever come back to Celtic in a managerial way or a coaching way, I don’t know. It’s the club that has to ask me if they feel like I’m good enough to be there. Time will tell.”

The 2019/20 season saw Celtic crowned champions early after the suspension of play due to the recent global pandemic. Following another successful season, Celtic have now been crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth consecutive time, matching the streak that their Old Firm rivals enjoyed prior to Larsson’s arrival in Glasgow (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

TIF Thoughts…

Larsson didn’t close the door on a potential return to the Hoops, however, it is clear that he believes the club should be the ones doing the chasing should they feel he is the right man to take the reins at Parkhead someday.
