The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has provided an update to Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters regarding fans attending matches.

Since the return of the Premier League following its suspension due to the current viral outbreak, all of the matches have been played behind closed doors (via BBC).

With Wolves also still in the Europa League, it has been announced by UEFA that no fans will be in attendance ‘until further notice’.

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers provided an update regarding the possibility of supporters attending Europa League matches.

He said: “Not at Molineux [against Olympiacos] and it looks very unlikely for this tournament. UEFA said ‘for the time being’ is what they’ve said or certainly, ‘that’s our position at the moment, is that there’ll be no fans in Germany.’

“They’ve said there are no fans for the qualifiers for the start of next season’s Europa League, which are going to be one-off games.

“It looks very unlikely. I think if fans were going to be there, then we’d be getting an inkling of it now or very soon.

“Which is such a shame. It’s such a shame, but I think they’ll kind of write this season off and look to get fans in for next season.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say, it seems to be his belief that there will not be Wolves supporters at matches until some point during next season.

As stated by UEFA, they will ‘monitor the evolution of the situation and advise on any full or partial lifting of restrictions at the appropriate time’, regarding supporters being in attendance; which would seem to backup Spiers’ thoughts.
